Okay I'll admit it, I have a thing for two-piece bands.
Maybe there is an influx in duos, or maybe I just
prefer the intimate stage presence, but lately it's been pointed out to me that
if there are just two members in the band, I'll probably like them.

Matt & Kim
One of the best live bands ever. Period. End of sentence. Probably my favorite Matt & Kim memory is when they played the FNX Clambake in 2010, outside of Fenway Park. And as the setting sun reflected off of the skyscrapers, they broke into 'Daylight'. Stop it, amazing. They'll be back
in the Boston area at House of Blues on November 16, 2012. I've stood
next to Kim's parents at shows at least twice and Matt hugged me once = best
friends.
I.Love.Japandroids, before Celebration Rock was on everyone's top hits list. They rocked the Brighton Music Hall
until midnight back in June and played a lot of songs off of No Singles, including 'Wet Hair', which is the track that turned me onto them. Although they needed to soundcheck after every
song...still heart them forever and ever.
Not gonna lie, I only really like the first three songs from
BG City. The rest of the record just starts to become dirty, distorted noise, but I do own it.
One day I see them on Andrew WK's Netflix miniseries Let's Big Happy and the next day I'm staring at them creepily
from the bar at Great Scott in Allston, wondering if I should ask how they got on the show
and if Andrew is going to party with us tonight. They're like a younger, more synthesized
version of Matt & Kim. Their song 'Why Don't You Get a Haircut' is also featured on my Rock Out With Your Cocktail Out Vol. III playlist.
I don't know much about them other than I liked their 'A
Knife in the Dark' video shared by indiependentmusic.net. More noise than meaningful lyrics, like Bass Drum of Death, only more Bloc Party. But a couple of not-so-bad-looking faces none the less.
Pretty groovy 50's / honky rock. They have an EP and a 7". Their full-length album is out November 6th, to which I have created a
Google Calendar reminder for.
