Patrick screams punk songs at bars and in basements and we like him. |
From the depths of the South Shore comes the lion-hearted, iron-willed Patrick Simas, a one-man show of oi, punk and acoustic bar songs, and he’s ready to bleed and break some strings.
The Bridgewater resident reappeared on our radar after one of his recently recorded live tracks from The Tony Jones Radio Show (RI) was featured on a February episode of the New England music outlet, Bloghead Podcast.
You might have caught Patrick Simas during one of his many stops around the area including the all-day Punk 'n’ Roll BBQ fundraising show in Allston back in August, or on tour with acts like the high energy rock band The Wemmer (Shizuoka, Japan) and fellow acoustic artist All About Buttons (RI). But Simas is now taking the next step, as he focuses to wrangle his sound into proper recordings with an EP release “of sorts”.
Somehow, no bands to date have harnessed Simas’ vocals and song writing ability. “I've been entertaining the idea of starting a full band, but finding the right parts has been difficult between work and traveling,” Simas admits. “Playing solo acoustic will always be my main focus, and if a band or ensemble enfolds, then I'd love to see where it would go.”
What can we say, we're suckers for opinionated punk music. Swoon.
On talks of what is on the horizon for the solo artists, Simas theorizes, “I'm taking sort of an Against Me! approach, start off screaming punk songs at bars and [in] basements and letting it turn into something bigger.”
Head to these fine venues to hear Patrick Simas live, stream his music, and follow him on Facebook and Twitter for additional show dates and EP release details.
