Several high-profile bands have signed on to provide their talents to an honorable event, including Street Dogs, Ducky Boys, Lenny Lashley's Gang of One and the resurrection of Avoid One Thing, formed by Joe Gittleman of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones in the early 2000's. The band released two albums on Side One Dummy before going on "permanent hiatus" in 2004. One of their most notable songs was "Lean On Sheena" from their 2002 self-titled album, which was eventually covered by The Bouncing Souls on their 2006 The Gold Record.
Already boosting over 340 committed attendees, the "Boston Punk Supports the Lieutenant Walsh - Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund" happens April 22nd at Great Scott in Allston (which in our opinion will outgrow itself in a matter of minutes after pre-sale) and will include raffle items from Dropkick Murphys, Rancid, Swingin Utters, The Boston Red Sox, The Boston Bruins and many more.
Per Facebook, "The goal is simple: to raise as much money for the Lieutenant Walsh - Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund as possible in one night through ticket sales and raffles. Proceeds will be turned over to the folks at Ladder 14 and Engine 41 at the end of the night."
Join the official event page for upcoming details around ticket sales and additional donations and support.
