Celebratory fist pump. Bishop & Rook is pleased to premiere the new Choke Up track “Hart", recorded at Converse Rubber Tracks and off Disposable America's upcoming benefit mixtape. As expected, Choke Up continues to maintain rank as an exceptionally talented Boston band.
“Hart” is one of 26 tracks featured on the Allston-based Disposable America mixtape ‘SPECIAL INTEREST’, out this Friday, July 15th. The compilation is a follow-up to last year’s ‘AND FLOWERS AND BEES’, and is comprised entirely of unreleased material from bands either on the label's roster or friends of the label including Soft Fangs, community college, Infinity Girl, Kitner, Strange Mangers, Twin Foxes, and Holiday Music. 100% of the proceeds from 'SPECIAL INTEREST' will be donated to the Pulse Tragedy Community Fund. You can pre-order the new mixtape on Bandcamp for $5 for cassette (limited 100) and $1 for digital download.
“'SPECIAL INTEREST' was originally intended to drop all at once, like a surprise release, but in the wake of the shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, FL earlier this year, [Disposable America] felt that there was a more useful way to share the songs and help to raise money for the cause", label founder Dustin Watson tells Bishop & Rook. “The first song we released was Coaches' cover of "What The World Needs Now Is Love," which seemed like a very necessary and relevant song both then and now.”
A show featuring mixtape artists is scheduled for July 15th, co-promoted by Show Mom Collective (see flyer below).
In addition to appearing on the DA comp, “Hart” will be available on Choke Up’s upcoming stripped down EP. Track listing below. A preview of “Wildflower” leaked last November. The band will be playing Koto in Salem on Friday, July 15th with DCDR, Heel & Arrow, and The Digs (event details) and are appearing at FEST15 in Gainesville, FL later this fall. The band is currently working on their sophomore album.
